Yep Saeward, a very good tutorial for the summer months. I'd like a more enclosed and watertight shelter in the more cold and wet months but a good video to work from nonetheless. Perhaps we could take a trip over that spinney and have a go at a bow-drill video of our own soon enough. I may have a go at forging a blade which would suit splitting and more abusive blade use, gods know I got the steel for it.

Was just thinking the same thing. I was looking at larger knives online and they're all 440 steel, which is fine for cutting but I don't think it'd put up with that kind of abuse for long. Probably end up shattering and stabbing someones eye out.

Saeward, I've got that .80-.90 High carbon steel that would be ideal for a wide spine bushcraft knife. I was also impressed with that tip on the handle end which eliminates the handle from slipping out of the hand. OK then, why not put your thinking cap on and work with me on the design of a bushcraft knife with some chopping and also cutting ability.
