I bought this book only recently because I had heard it was dealing with a rebooting of our society of the a SHTF scenario. I can understand how it was on the Sunday Times Bestseller list ! The fundamental question to ask is what happens after the initial survival period ? this book deals with it very well. The book takes our basic needs that we have become complacent about and tells us how to reinstate them with the sciences used to extract things from our natural habitat. I would google the book and read the synopsis and also the reviews. The book hits home and shows that there is a way after a massive world fall, a way that need not look like the set of a Mad Max film.
The Knowledge, how to rebuild our world from scratch By Lewis Dartnell Published by The Bodley Head ISBN 978147922281

I've just started to read it, so far so good! You seem to miss the smaller details in technology, the very basics, the itty bitty bits that without, most of it can never exist. On top of that you have the harvesting of those resources, which again - require modern technology. The conclusion is, to learn the very basics of the skills needed to rebuild society. How to properly chop, carve wood and build a shelter. The basics of metallurgy to make a knife, and other tools. How to properly track down animals, and using the basic knowledge of building primitive traps, to then trap the animal. How to field dress/prep the animal, how to cook the animal over a fire. Good stuff .

Glad you are enjoying it thus far, it is said to be an important book that goes beyond the usual 3 day bug-out plans.
